Mastering the Ollie

If you have a serious problem with your Ollie this is the article for you

As strange as this article may seem it is based on guts. Not the type you find at a butchers but the skateboarding type. If you have a serious problem with your Ollie this is the article for you even though this introduction may be longer then the article itself.

There are heaps of sites that tell you what to do but dont give any suggestions on how to overcome fear. I may not be the best Ollier but i know how to overcome problems.

1. If you are afraid of the board slipping from underneath you you have to centralise your weight abit more. Start Ollieing without moving then slowly gain speed.

2 If your back leg comes off the board (most likely due to fear) stand on the wheels, like what Rodney Mullen does and push your weight down a bit and try to get your feet on the griptape again. Also do the trick where you have your feet are under the board and the boards upside down then jump and land it (if your scared dont think about what happens if you stuff it just do it. After landing that youll get used to the board wobbling under your feet after you land a trick. That helps alot!

3 If you have a heap of guts but cant do any trick and you keep stacking then your the luckyest skater around all you have to do is gain skill. Get out there

I hope you can learn to do tricks quicker than me. It took me 2 years to master the Ollie. Mainly because i got into bad habits like taking my back leg of the board as I Ollie and landing it with one leg. But never give up
